Location:     Scottsdale, AZ

Position:      Vice President

John is a Systems Engineer at SpaceWorksand has been with the company since it’s founding in 1999.  Prior to joining SpaceWorks, John worked at several spacecraft and launch vehicle companies, including Orbital and Spectrum Astro.

He has been involved in multiple spacecraft projects, from CubeSats to large GEO-comm satellites.   His favorite part of the job is hands-on testing of hardware, especially during integration and test.  Much of his work in the last several years has been in the area of Plug-and-Play interfaces to speed-up spacecraft integration.  John graduated from Rensselaer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987.  A few of his favorite projects were retrofitting a Minuteman Stage 2 solid motor as a sounding rocket for a test launch at White Sands, integrating the first ion propulsion system on an interplanetary spacecraft on DS-1 at JPL, and being involved with the RHESSI spacecraft repair after it was nearly destroyed in a testing accident.

Outside of work, John hikes in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, even in the summer, and does some traveling, especially for historical sites, Formula 1 races or anywhere with amazing food.  He has been trying to learn Italian for many years with some success, and does a lot of reading, mostly about the history of Europe and the Middle East, and biographies of the pioneers in space exploration.  Some of his favorite trips have been Istanbul, Marrakesh, and San Sebastián, Spain.

Location:     Scottsdale, AZ

Position:      Controller

Bruce is the Controller of SpaceWorks and has been with the company since 2000.  He deals with the day-to-day operation of the company which includes everything non-engineering related.

Bruce lives in Phoenix, AZ, but is a Minnesota native.  He is an avid reader of ancient history, especially Ancient Roman History, and hopes to some day complete the 6 volume History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. He still follows his favorite Minnesota sports teams, the Twins and Vikings.  He feels fortunate enough to have been at both of the Twins’ seventh game World Series victories. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Augsburg College, located in Minneapolis, MN.

Location:     Albuquerque, NM

Position:      Engineer

Jonathan is an engineer who began working with SpaceWorks in 2017. He loves technical challenges and anything computer related. Jonathan has experience in RF systems, MATLAB, circuit board design, laboratory testing, modeling and analysis, and power systems.

Jonathan lives in Sandia Park, NM with his wife who is a civil engineer. They have traveled to Nepal three times since the earthquakes of 2015 and built a Women's Community Center in rural Bahunipati at the site of a medical clinic that was destroyed during the earthquakes. The project was part of a University of New Mexico student and faculty group called UNM4Nepal.  Jonathan enjoys exploring outdoors and playing his guitar. He has raced in the 43 mile Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon twice and the first time it took him 9 hours and he was the second to last person down the mountain out of more than 300 racers. The guy he finally passed in the last stretch of the bike must have been 30 years his senior. He's looking forward to doing it again. Jonathan is a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico Tech, a Master's degree in Engineering Systems from Colorado School of Mines, and will soon finish his Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
